My dear Gordon,

I am glad to hear from you. I was
afraid of worse news if you didn't
write. But I am so wretched both as
letter writer & of course, of letter writing
in others. Since I wrote last
I thought done anything to improve,
because I have written and rewritten
or typed all my book. It isn't a book,
but you know what I mean. And so
I should like to come to you. BUT
This isn't rhetoric tho I haven't wrung
the beast's neck yet. The fact is we
may be moving rather soon. Just at this
moment I am not very full of work &
I do want a change. Could I
come, say, early next week? I
am not sure that I can but if
you can have me I may discover
that I can. If you can, & if you
know any train I ought to take
please tell me.
I don't know about Guthrie. But
I should think he would just be back.

The other day I was asked to
do 'Home & haunts of Wordsworth'
for an atrocious price, suitable
for a young lady author living with
her family. That might
draw me near the homes & haunts of my dear
Gordon. But I shall not accept
this atrocious, never, well
however, perhaps not till next year,
if Fate continues thus.
I'm selling books in order to
fit into our little cottage etc.
Do any of these appeal to you particularly?
There is a good deal of French too,
Gaitier, Hugo, France, Dadet,
Roussard. Please return the list
when you write.
I agree about Douglas & Ransome.
Douglas must be ¾ mad & ought not
to have been allowed to victimize
Ransome. They say he was really
aiming at Ross.
Shall I come? Give my love
to Emily please.

Yours ever
Edward Thomas
