My dear Gordon,
We are sorry and all I can say is shall I perhaps see you
in town on your way home? It is quite likely I shall be in town
now on the 3rd & 9th of December.
This proof has just come. If you can, do put a good
long quotation in prose or verse (under the letter), as I have
a lot of space to fill! If you can think of any passage in a book
you haven't got with you, tell me where to look & I will insert it.
Another huge parcel of books has come for me to gulp &
vomit & return to the vomit - Dr Johnson according to Boswell,
Oscar Wilde (another life), The literature of Rogney Egomet's latest, 19th
Century Prose, & some bad verse. They swamp me quite.
With love to you & Emily
Every yours respectfully
Edward Thomas

P.. S. I want a little Bergamot root. What I brought back from Cartmel
soon died, though the ladslove & Rosemary is doing well. May I
have some Bergamot then?
