My dear Gordon, I am glad you are better and I hope
you will be well by the Spring. If we could
come to you in June! We will try hard.
I had to wait a day or two before reading your article.
But it is all right except for that funny reference to
an essayist tho I shall leave it in because so many
will think that it applies to them & so will make
you admirers. You couldn't have taken a better line in
so short a paper, I think.
Thanks for Guthrie. Having been to Oxford, I
can attack it as well as he & I don't think I shall
mind his Wemmickality. We shall see. You
might mention that Ashford is in the parish
of Steep. He may not know, tho he must know this valley of beech & yew, juniper & apple trees
& mistletoe.
When you could next write if your Liverpool
man reviewed my Heart of England. You will mourn
when that AMR is doing my life - letters for
a Bookman article (with portrait). He
offered himself & as he was just visiting me
& the editor had accepted him I had just to giggle.
He's doing a book in Bohemia in London.
But now I have to review a play on
Sir Walter Raleigh & the last of Mr Doughty's
