In 2023, Wrexham-based artist Sophia Leadill devised and delivered a community art project that resulted in a permanent mural in the waiting room on the far platform at Wrexham General Station. The project was managed by the 3 Counties Connected Community Rail Partnership and funded by Transport for Wales.

Sophia developed the original concept, created the main dragon logo, and shaped the overall design of the final mural. She also designed and facilitated all workshops connected to the project.

Working with participants from The Wallich, Housing Justice, and the wider community, Sophia led a series of printmaking sessions exploring themes of people and place. Prints made during these workshops were incorporated into the mural alongside her own artwork, creating a piece rooted in local identity and shared experience.

The dragon logo includes a photograph of the Wrexham floodlights donated by local photographer Oliver Stephen, which Sophia integrated into the design with full permission. Graphic Design by Broc Creative, following Sophia’s original concept.
