Cysur y Sêr 2026. Project Summary Film

Description

Cysur y Sêr was a national-focused, Welsh-led and bilingual project focused on developing stories in Welsh, environmental respect and leaving an impactful legacy for future generations, leading up to the performances of Stars and their Consolations tour across Wales in March- April 2026.

Telling stories of the night sky helps make sense of constellation patterns in ways which connect us to our deep and recent past, and which orientate us, in geography, time, the seasonal year and culture. Stories are one of our most adaptable and reliable ways of passing on knowledge between generations.

Over the course of 12 months we supported 10 bilingual storytellers, embedded activities in communities across Wales that explore environmental change and capture forgotten and new stories told in the Welsh language. Explore the sections below to discover what took place and how you can listen and explore the stories through the People's Collection at the National Library of Wales for future generations.

The selected artists are Rhodri Trefor and Gillian Brownson from Ynys Môn/Anglesey; Fiona Collins from Dee Valley, Chris Baglin from Clwyd, Ceri Phillips from Llandeilo, Hedydd Hughes from North Pembrokeshire; Stacey Blythe from Cardiff, and Dan Mitchell from Pontardawe.
They were joined by two storytelling project leads Tamar Eluned Williams from Cardiff and Mair Tomos Ifans from Mid Wales.

Cysur y Sêr is a Wales wide project led by storytelling production company Adverse Camber, supported by Theatrau Sir Gâr, Arts Council Wales, The National Lottery Heritage Fund, Colwinston Charitable Foundation, The Darkley Trust, Welsh Government, Prosiect Nos Partnership and People Speak Up.
