Description

This is a letter in Welsh from Menna Elfyn of Cymdeithas yr Iaith to Ann Clwyd received on 16 December 1982. Menna Elfyn was the leader of Cymdeithas yr Iaith's Language Status Group and they proposed to hold a conference on the need for a new Welsh Language Act in 1983 as the original 1967 Act was considered inadequate and passive. Ann's draft reply to the letter, written by her secretary as Ann was in Senegal, is written in notes on the original letter.
