Description

This china plate (approx 21cm in diameter) has printed on the front: 'Special Message from The Rt Hon D. Lloyd George, Prime Minister, "I have no hesitation in saying that economy in the consumption & use of food in this country is a matter of the greatest possible importance to the Empire at the present time"'. On the rear is printed 'The War Time Bread & Butter Plate for a family of ten, made by the girls of Staffordshire during the winter of 1917 when the boys were in the trenches fighting for liberty and civilization'. It was owned by a farming family in Glanaman.
