This document was found hidden under the floor of Nantclwyd y Dre in the 1930s, and records the stay of John and Gwerful Holland at a religious hospice in Rome having made a pilgrimage there. Three generations of the Holland family lived in Nantclwyd y Dre between 1491 and 1571. It is thought that the descendants of John and Gwerful may have hidden the document in the house when Catholicism was persecuted by law.
