General Electrics Natural Gas Power Station at Baglan Bay began in 1999; it features the most technically advanced and most efficient power system in the world. The plant came into operation in 2003, supplying low cost power to businesses at the Baglan Energy Park with the remaining output sold competitively to the local grid. The plant was officially opened by Her Majesty The Queen in October, 2005.
