Description

David Lloyd George was appointed Chancellor of the Exchequer in April 1908 by the Liberal Prime Minister Herbert Asquith. This provided him with the opportunity to put in place many of the reforms he wished to see his government fulfil. This included the so-called "People's Budget" of 1909.
