Photograph of a troop from the Royal Horse Artillery, c.1940s, Llandrindod Wells

Description

One of a series of photographs of Second World Regiments in Llandrindod Wells taken by local photographer Rousham Roberts. Here we see a troop from the Royal Horse Artillery; a unit of the Royal Artillery. During the Second World War (1939194?-??-??5) the Royal Artillery was the backbone of the British Army at this period. It provided both air and sea defence at home and abroad. On the sea, gunners manned the armed merchantmen. While in the air gunners flew spotter planes into enemy territory.
