On the south side of Caerau Hillfort was a large house built and owned by Vernon Hill at the beginning of the 20th century. Vernon Hill was a renowned cricketer who played for Somerset and was a member of the MCC. The house is now demolished and lies underneath the modern houses in Heritage Drive.
