Church House Farm, Caerau

Description

Located at the top of Church road adjacent to St Mary’s are the remains of Church Farm. Between 1928 and 1937 the farm was rented by Mr David Humphreys who had two milk rounds covering Ely, Splott, Grangetown and Canton. In the hillfort field was a large windmill that would fetch water for the farm from a well on the northern side – this can still be seen if you walk round the northern hillfort ramparts. The family left the farm in 1937 and the house is now a ruin, some of which can still be seen on the corner at the top of Church Road.
