Ely WW2 Artillery Men and Home Guard

Description

Barrage balloons were flown over the racecourse fields to deter low flying aircraft. Anti-aircraft guns and an experimental rocket battery were also stationed on the racecourse (now the location of River Bank School) as part of the defence of the city. A rescue, repair and decontamination unit was also based at the racecourse.
