Description

In 1953 the old racecourse was officially reopened as Cardiff’s biggest sports and recreation centre and is still used for playing football today. In the late 1950s many local schools held their summer sports days on the field (Herbert Thompson with rebuilt grandstand in background). The great Grandstand was finally pulled down in 1961.
