Description

Victory celebrations at the end of the First World War were held at the Grandstand of Ely racecourse. Each local child was presented with a mug to mark the occasion. A number of soldiers’ graves from WWI can be found in the graveyard at St Mary’s:

Private J Murray, Welsh Regt, died 26th May 1919, aged 17
Private Harry Blick, 11th Welsh Regt, died 26th Sept 1916, aged 24
James Murray, died Oct 9th 1918, aged 34
