These journals were written by John Froyne during his apprenticeship at Pembroke Dockyard. The questions are taken from Fincham's shipbuilding textbooks and Froynes answers relate to his work on ships under construction at the time illustrated with diagrams.
Froyne was a star apprentice, scoring top marks in all his exams, later on becoming Chief Constructor at Pembroke Dockyard and after retirement Mayor of Pembroke
