World War One postcard home
Description
Postcard photograph of Albert Dance (standing) and an unknown friend.
Albert, my great grandfather, was a private in the Welsh Regiment and served in the Egypt Expeditionary Force between 1916 and 1919.
The back of the postcard shows that the photgraph was taken by S.J. Allen (Pembroke Dock and Haverfordwest) and bears a date stamp from 4 Jan 1918. This is confusing as Albert's military record shows that he did not embark for Britain until March 1919.
The postcard is addressed to 50 Colbourne Terrace, Waun Wen, Swansea. This is the address to which he moved after being demobilized.
