Description
Evan Samuel Rees joined the army at 19 and served in the Middle East during the First World War. Medal no.1669, PTE E. S. Rees with the R.A.M.C (Royal Army Medical Corps). He survived the WW1 and returned to live at home in the Swansea area.
The note on the back reads:
“Phil Gwynne
Sketty”
The note suggests that Phil Gwynne is from the Sketty area of Swansea. There are other photographs of Phil Gwynne by Evan Rees which also suggest that they were in the same unit through most of the war.
