Description

A long cross 'cut' half groat silver coin found in a field south of Bridgend. A groat was worth fourpence. Often when a purchased item cost less than a full groat the coin would have been be broken or cut in half (two pence) or even into quarters.Unresearched but told its from the period of Edward III (13 November 1312 – 21 June 1377). He was King of England from 25 January 1327 until his death.
