Brothers from Ysceifiog, Flintshire who all fought in the First World War

Benjamin Smart with his brothers. Sons of Robert Smart (Fox Inn, Ysceifiog) and Margaret (nee Davies). David William Smart b.1894 d.1951, James Henry Smart b.1891 d.1958, Benjamin Smart b.1899 d.1971, John Richard Smart b.1887 d.1919. All the brothers fought in the First World War, and all survived. But sadly, John Richard died from dysentery at a camp in 1919. Benjamin Smart was a private in the Welsh Regiment and was made a prisoner of war during his service. During his time as a prisoner of war he nearly died of dysentery, but ultimately survived the war.David William Smart (standing left) b1894 d 1951, James Henry Smart (standing right) b1891 d1958, Benjamin Smart (seated left) b1899 d 1971, John Richard Smart (seated right) b1887 d1819.
