Commemorative brooch made from a 1915 half crown coin
Description
A 1915 half crown. with a message when Ernest Boon joined the Newport Police.The reverse shows a normal coin with a brooch fitting attached. The obverse was machined smooth and a message inscribed. Made into a brooch for his mother to commemorate his attestation on the 18th November 1915. Joining as a Constable, Ernest Boon went on to attain the rank of Deputy Chief Constable of Newport County Borough Police.
