Neolithic polished axhead

Description

A highly polished neolithic axehead found in Hayscastle, Pembrokeshire, in 1840. The axe is made of a high-grade flint. In their book Neolithic Sites of Cardiganshire, Carmarthenshire & Pembrokeshire, George Children and George Nash referred to such axes as "prized symbols of power and prestige rather than for any functional attributes"
