Description

A postcard collected by Owen Jones, Penlanwen, Llanddewi-Brefi whilst he was travelling around America after working at a sawmill in Canada for a year. He bought a plot of land in Canada with a Dutchman, and came home to Llanddewi-Brefi to marry his sweetheart Elizabeth Jones and take her out to Canada to start a new life. However, Elizabeth refused to move to Canada and Owen had to fly back to Canada alone to sell the plot of land before coming home to Llanddewi-Brefi to marry Elizabeth, where his family now still live.

This postcard mean a lot to me .My Grandfather was one on 10 children and was a stonemason and work was getting scares in Wales and he went out to Canada to find work and did lumber jacking as it say under the Postcard he bought a plot of land and made friends with a Dutchman who bought a plot of land next to him. After a few months he came back to Wales with enough money to a buy a farm in LLanddewi-Brefi and to marry my Grandmother but she refused to move to Canada and went back to sell the plot of land , and he did not buy the farm with the money ,instead he came back to the Family Farm in LLanddewi-Brefi where I live now called Penlanwen and my children in the 7th Generation here and still farming Gobeithio bod hyn yn help i chi Diolch yn Fawr Elin
