Walter Crane can be seen weraing this in the the item "Photo of Walter Crane in uniform with his brother during the First World War". Walter Crane was a private in the South Wales Borderers Army. His ID No was 12734 He was a member of the 4th Battalion SW Borderers and he entered a “theatre of war” 2B Balkans ie Gallipoli on the 19th July 1915. He was awarded the 1915 British Star Medal the War Medal and the Victory medal. He was also awarded a Silver War Badge and was discharged from the Army on 26th March 1916 as unfit for further military service.
