Description

The red brick Newtown School opened in 1906 - but it was not the first school serving this small community.
In 1835, a Private Adventure School was established in Bute Town by John Evans, who had lost an arm in an accident at the Ironworks. In 1875 a Board School was established in 15 and 16 Collins Row, and the garden area was made into a yard - you can still see this if you visit Bute Town.
