Ted had been assigned to escort the American film stars Bob Hope and Marilyn Maxwell, whilst Bob was taking part in a golf tournament at The Royal Porthcawl Golf Club.

Ted went on to be promoted to Sergeant at Talbot Green and then Senghenydd (Caerphilly. He was later promoted to the rank of Inspector, and worked in the force Operations Room at Headquarters, Bridgend..
