Christopher Rice Mansel Talbot was a key figure in the development of Port Talbot, which Talbot grew out of the small harbour and town of Aberafan in the 19th century. The new Port was named in his honour. His sister, Charlotte Louisa Traherne, sketched this scene for her collection of 'Illustrations of Glamorganshire.'
