She met her husband Huw Davies who worked ar Penllegaer Estate, and they lived together in Pentre Garw, Fforest Fach, Swansea. Huw stayed at home during the First World War due to the nature of his work. Sadly he was found dead in the woods at Penllegaer Estate in 1916, aged only 39. During the war, Eliza worked at the Munitions Factory in Pembrey and became supervisor. Having lost her father, Eliza’s daughter also went to work at the Munitions Factory at 14 years of age. When it was discovered that she was under the age of 16, she was sent to the canteen to work instead.
Eliza Davies was awarded an OBE for the brave act of preventing an explosion from happening at Pembrey Munitions Factory.
