Description

Sandbrook & Dawe Ltd was an ironmongers business which can trace its history back to 1817, originally run by Mr Charles Davies. William Sandbrook, originally from Pembrokeshire, worked as a shop assistant before becoming a partner in 1865. In 1881 it became Sandbrook & Dawe - the shop where you could buy just about everything you needed!
It eventually closed in August 1989.
This shot shows the shop dressed for the coronation - the staff worked hard to make window displays that entertained as well as displayed what was for sale.
