Eisteddfod chair made with wood from Vicar Rhys Prichard's house

Description

The chair was made from wood salvaged from the rafters of Vicar Prichard's house, Y Neuadd Newydd.
It was made in 1918 by Williams Bros, cabinet makers of Llandovery. Initially offered to the (Royal) National Eisteddfod but not accepted, possibly because it was not sufficiently ornate, it was awarded instead at the Cilffriw Eisteddfod, in Glamorgan. It was presented to the Welsh Congregational Church in Bristol by the Revd.Hughes in 1948 in appreciation of his many years of happy association with the church. The chair was placed in the chancel of the church following its rebuilding after wartime damage.
