Sargeant Harry (Henry Tudor) Rees on horseback
Description
This is the former Welsh player at work as a policeman. Henry played as a forward for Wales and Cardiff in the 1920s and 30s. As rugby was not in those days a full-time occupation, as it s today, he worked as a policeman.
He is described as a 'Welsh Stalwart' by a newspaper of the day, which goes on to praise his strength and good nature. Off the pitch, he is decribed in the same article as a genial giant. As chronicled in the 'Who's Who of Welsh Rugby Greats', Henry retired from rugby to return to the police, this time for the National Coal Board as a colliery policeman.
