Description

This is the first image taken of a series which captures the ruins of Ewloe castle. This is a great 'pocket Castle' which is located in the Wepre Park woodland and is not as frequently visited or as well known as some of the other castles in North Wales.
The castle was built in 1257, or shortly thereafter, by Llewelyn ap Gruffydd, (Llewelyn ein llyw Olaf).
It seems likely that by 1277, that the castle would have fallen into the hands of Edward 1st during his battles to conquor Wales.
