Welsh costume doll, Museum of London, D28

Description

Costume: apron, skirt, neckerchief, two underskirts. Body: painted clay or plaster head, the lower arms and legs are wood, attached to a stuffed cotton body. Hat: made of plaster as part of the head, the brim is missing. Height including hat: 28.5cm General observations: The apron is machine stitched and is thought to be a later addition. The bedgown, made from one piece of fabric, is sleeveless. Date: 19th century
