Description
There are over 4,000 different species of beetle in the UK. They are easily recognised by their hardened front wings called 'elytra'. The beetles have biting mouthparts and feed a range of foodstuffs both animal and vegetable. The smallest beetles in the UK are less than 1mm long (Featherwing Beetles) whilst the largest are 75mm long (Stag Beetles).
