Workers at the Brynmawr factory, 1939.
Description
There had been no tradition of furniture-making in Brynmawr before the opening of the factory.
When the business was established, the workforce consisted of twelve unskilled young men, but once they were trained, they were each assisted by two young apprentices between 14 and 18 years old. At its peak, the venture employed up to 40 men.
