Description

Sir Cyril Fox (1882-1967) was an influential archaeologist whose published works include: Life and Death in the Bronze Age (1959), Monmouthshire Houses (1953) and Offa's Dyke (1955).

He was appointed Keeper of Archaeology at National Museum Wales in 1924 and became Director of the Museum in 1926. By the time of his retirement in 1948 he had overseen the development of NMW's new building and the creation of the Welsh Folk Museum (now known as St Fagans National Museum of History).
