Description
A 19th century on duty armband with brass buckle. Worn on a police tunic to signify that the officer was 'on duty.
In the early days of policing....policemen were required to be in uniform at all times. That signified the difference to being on or being off duty.
This armband is the second Bute Dock Police armband displayed on PCW and is part of a number of items that were formerly owned by Bute Docks Police and Cardiff Railway Police Constable Herbert H. Hunt.
Bute Docks Police wore brass metal items on their uniforms.
Part of The Ross Mather Police Memorabilia Collection of Wales.
