Glamorgan Constabulary senior officer's insignia
Description
An tunic epaulette badge (one of a pair that was worn) of a senior officer above the rank of Inspector.
Senior officers usually wore silver or silver plated insignia as opposed to the other ranks who had metal insignia that was chromium plated. Often, these solid silver items were paid for out of their own pockets.
This solid silver badge is stamped with hallmarks that indicate Birmingham 1939. The identity of the silversmith (MD&S) is unknown.
