Shearing Cake
Description
Ingredients
- half a pound plain flour
- six ounces moist sugar
- four ounces butter
- peel of half a lemon, grated
- one egg, well beaten
- quarter pint milk
- one teaspoonful baking powder
- two teaspoonfuls caraway seeds
- a little nutmeg
Method
- Rub the fat into the flour, add the other dry ingredients and mix with the beaten egg and milk.
- Line a cake tin with greaseproof paper and put the mixture into it.
- Bake in a moderately hot oven for approximately one hour.
