Description
Ingredients
- three large cupfuls plain flour
- half a pound sugar
- half a pound bacon dripping
- a little bicarbonate of soda, dissolved in a little tepid water and buttermilk
- one pound dried fruit (currants and raisins)
- two or three eggs, well beaten
- buttermilk
Method
- Rub the fat into the flour and work in the other dry ingredients.
- Mix gradually with the beaten eggs and add sufficient buttermilk to give a fairly soft consistency.
- Grease a cake tin, put the mixture into it and bake in a fairly hot oven for approximately an hour and a half.
