Description

Ingredients

half a bowl wholemeal flour
half a teaspoonful bicarbonate of soda
a little sugar and salt
a little oatmeal
a little buttermilk


Method

Put all the dry ingredients, except the oatmeal, in a large bowl and mix thoroughly.
Sift the oatmeal into the bowl over the other ingredients and gradually add the buttermilk, mixing all together to make a fairly soft batter. (It should drop off the spoon fairly easily.)
Pour it into a greased, hot frying pan and bake the loaf on both sides over a moderate heat.
