Caraway Bread
Description
Ingredients
one pound plain flour
a little baking powder
one teaspoonful salt
half a tablespoon caraway seeds
one ounce sugar
two and a half ounces butter
one egg
quarter pint milk
Method
Sift the flour and salt into a bowl, rub in the butter and add the other dry ingredients.
Beat the egg and milk together and gradually pour into the dry ingredients, mixing well to make a light dough.
Put this dough into a greased tin and bake in a moderately hot oven for approximately one hour.
