Description

Ingredients



  • half a pound plain flour

  • three ounces sugar

  • two ounces butter

  • two ounces lard

  • one egg

  • half a cupful milk

  • half a teaspoonful salt

  • half a teaspoonful bicarbonate of soda



Method



  • Cream the fat and sugar, add the egg and beat together.

  • Gradually add the flour, salt and soda and mix with a little milk to give a fairly soft consistency. (Some two ounces of currants may be added, if desired.)

  • Put the mixture in a greased cake tin and bake in a moderately hot oven for approximately one hour.
