Elevenses Cake
Description
Ingredients
- half a pound plain flour
- three ounces sugar
- two ounces butter
- two ounces lard
- one egg
- half a cupful milk
- half a teaspoonful salt
- half a teaspoonful bicarbonate of soda
Method
- Cream the fat and sugar, add the egg and beat together.
- Gradually add the flour, salt and soda and mix with a little milk to give a fairly soft consistency. (Some two ounces of currants may be added, if desired.)
- Put the mixture in a greased cake tin and bake in a moderately hot oven for approximately one hour.
