On the night of 14th December, 1908 fire badly damaged the Jersey Beach Hotel and within hours its roof collapsed. Some ﾣ3,000 was spent on restoration and the hotel re-opened at Easter, 1911. The pitched roof was replaced with a flat roof, which in 1920s served as a roller skating rink. This depiction is an attempt by a local photographer to re-create the scene.
