An invitation to the Inaugural Ceremony marking the opening of the Abbey Steel Works. Due to the illness of His Majesty King George VI the ceremony was performed by Mr. Hugh Gaitskill M.P., Chancellor of the Exchequer. In March 1951 steel was first produced at the Abbey Melting Shop and in June of that year, coil was produced at the Strip Mill
