Sandfields Methodist Church situated at the western entrance to the Sandfields Estate opened in October, 1966. Prior to this, services for children were first held in Traethmelyn School in 1961, followed a year later by a monthly service for families. The bright, exterior colours, the work of a New Sandfields artist, completed in late 2000, caused a considerable stir with mixed reactions. Many considered that the colours were a reflection of the warmth of the welcome accorded worshippers and visitors. Images of the church via the Internet appeared in churches worldwide.
