Construction of the sea wall at Aberavon Beach. Work was well advanced by April, 1956 when Princess Margaret visited, inspected the work and unveiled a commemorative plaque. These defences were breached during a violent storm in January 1991 in the vicinity of the Jersey Beach Hotel.
