Cinema was mass entertainment for the people of South Wales. Even small valley towns would have 2 or more cinemas. People could measure out their lives by what was on the silver screen. The matinees they watched as youngsters, the first date and very often even the first kiss. So when we asked people to talk about the history of cinema in Blaenau Gwent -- we are not just finding about the buildings or the films being shown but we are drawn into the social history of the valleys.
