Lath and plaster ceiling, Coal Exchange, Cardiff

Description

A ceiling such as this shows the remains of a technique called 'lath and plaster'. The laths are the small strips of wood nailed to the underside of the floor joists. Plaster was then skimmed across them to create a smooth ceiling.
